  • it's been a while, again

hey guys, sorry. i know it's been a long time since i've been on here. i guess that kind of puts me out of touch. anyway, we do hope you all had a wonderful christmas, and that you have a fun/safe new years' celebration. uh, i guess i should write a lot more, but i really don't feel like it right now. :) we had sunday lunch here, because ian's mom is sick, and wasn't up for people in the house. totally understandable. i guess she's probably got the bug that's going around... i hope i don't get it again. anyway, so ian's dad, and rachel and ash, and her boyfriend jared, and jared's sister sarah, are all here.... jared got rock band for christmas, so they're playing it now.... it's fun to watch. okay, so that's about all i have the energy for... i think violet's gonna be awake soon, so i'll be headed up to get her. love you guys tons... oh, and amy, let me know how much $$ to send to you for the calendars... i wanna get that to you asap... so it makes it to you before you need it. thanks.... love you! ruth (for the family)

  • also...

fyi... gramma's surgery has been rescheduled for december 9th.... just so you know.
  • let there be light.... ding!

we've lived in this apartment just shy of a year now, and the light in the refrigerator has never worked. when we moved in, we put it on the list of things wrong. but there was another problem with the fridge, so i guess the maint. guy got confused. either way, we've just put up with it, and never remembered when we were out to get a bulb. maybe i assumed that if the guy hadn't fixed it, it was more broken than a burnt out bulb. anyway. last night i was tearing the house apart looking for something else, and came across our various light bulbs, and i found an appliance bulb, from the two-pack we bought to replace the fridge light in the last place we lived. i had ian check it, just in case. lo and behold.... it works. it makes me so happy every time i open the door, and i can actually see in there. it's SOOOOO great. if i had only known it would be that easy.. i wish i had done it a long time ago. but i guess then i wouldn't be so excited about it, now would i? the things that make me tick!

  • hey, in case you all didn't know, gramma (telling) was scheduled to have surgery this morning around 9 am.... but it got cancelled. anyway. here's the update email mom sent me, but i don't know who else got it. also, in case you didn't know, this surgery is a kind of a huge deal, and she really needs it. so please PLEASE pray for her, for the results, ect. thanks you guys... love you

They cancelled the surgery for today. The anesthesiologist won't administer anything until they get a neurologist report.  It sounds like a spinal doesn't work with Parkinson's, which she might have, and something else doesn't go with whatever is causing the slurred speech problems.  So until they get the report, nothing happens.

They are doing an MRI late this afternoon, but I don't know anything more or about when the surgery might be rescheduled.  I'm sure Mom (Connie) will let everyone know what's going on when they get home this evening.
